This crazy hot summer is almost finished, and in a couple of days I will be leaving Berlin for a few months, heading to Boston, to attend my second year as a PhD student at Harvard University.
This past year has been quite difficult for me. I stopped composing for several months, because I felt I needed to understand the direction that my music was taking. I am now back on my feet and ready for all the amazing projects that 2016 offers me!
Since I had a break, I postponed some concerts, which means in 2016 I’ll have four world premières — a new ensemble piece commissioned by Radio France (for 2e2m), my first piano concerto (for Wilhem Latchoumia and the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain), and a string orchestra work commissioned by Musica Femina München e.V (for Münchener Kammerorchester).
Besides this, my ensemble piece Intent on Resurrection — Spring or Some Such Thing, written last year for the Ensemble Intercontemporain and co-commissioned by the Festival d’Automne, will be played again by LA Phil, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Klangforum Wien.
It is going to be a great, busy year, and I really hope to see some friendly faces at these concerts!
